UK Rocks Tour 2017 and Amplified Festival 2017

After resting up and editing most of the videos of this extremely interesting but also exhausting tour across the United Kingdom to see Puddle of Mudd, here is finally my review.

The first thing I would like to mention is:

IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!

And I am very very thankful for everyone

who has been a part of it.

My deepest thanks go out to Wesley Reid Scantlin, who proved a lot of his haters wrong by showing up for his concerts, even though the odds were clearly against him. And by playing five great concerts in a row, despite all the challenges that were thrown at him. (Security guard in Manchester that took away his cigarette, too quiet mic - or too loud instruments - in Manchester and London, feedback issues with the mic at Amplified due to not being able to use the stage they should have been using).

Special thanks also go to Gary Paterson (and his brother Andrew) and everyone at Amplified 2017 (especially that mysterious person named Si(mon) who appears to have neither a Facebook nor a last name)! You all made a little German Puddle of Mudd fan VERY HAPPY, by making sure that everyone of the band made it to Amplified.

Special thanks also go to Stephanie Full for her everlasting support of one of the greatest rockstars of our time, and to everyone else who made the UK Rocks Tour a success.

My thanks also go out to Si Robinson and Dominic Gibbs in Doncaster. I was happy to see that even Dom (who was - lets put it mildly - not too nice about the concert and Wes before it even happened, and almost didn't happen) gave Wes a big hug upon arrival and was also very nice to me, thanks for the setlist!

I'd also like to thank all the fans and bands I met along the way, especially Colt 48 and The Fallen State, you all also helped making it great.

And now, without further ado, a little insight about each and every concert of the Puddle of Mudd UK Tour 2017:

Amplified Festival 2017 - July 21, 2017

The Venue:

Some of the stages:

Then there was rain, LOTS of it.

And it was quite uncertain what would happen. So it was decided to have some of the main bands - that were scheduled for the evening - play in the very small (but thankfully somewhat dry) "beer tent". Here you can see a short segment of a very responsible Wes, who wanted to make sure that they play their set, and also that nobody will get hurt. Because as we all know, electricity and rain are never a good mix.

So with a little delay (but this time really not a fault of anyone but the British weather gods) Puddle of Mudd went on stage and fucking ROCKED!

The full concert can be watched here:

The Hub - Plymouth - July 22, 2017

The Venue:

While it was (technically) the smallest venue, The Hub in Plymouth was definitely TOP in the light and sound department. (Sharing similarly good light and sound only with the Diamond Live Lounge in Doncaster).

After a meet and greet with Puddle of Mudd, they came out to ROCK another excellent show for us!

The full concert can be watched here:

Gorilla - Manchester - July 23, 2017

The Venue:

The lights were a little bit too flashy and Wes' mic was WAY too quiet in this venue - or the instruments too loud -  (which is a real shame due to the quality songs that were played).

Just like in Plymouth, after a meet and greet, Puddle of Mudd ROCKED the place!

The full concert can be watched here:

The Garage - London - July 24, 2017

The Venue:

Here as well the sound of Wes' mic was a little too quiet, and putting the fog machine on the highest setting was probably not the best idea either, because it was not only difficult to take proper photos and videos, but it was also difficult to breathe (not to mention that it also hurt the rating the light could have gotten - because the lighting was actually decent - but sadly it was too foggy to see it most of the time. Made me wonder whether I was visiting a rock concert or a disco.

Nevertheless, Puddle of Mudd still played an amazing and ROCKIN' concert!

The full concert can be watched here:

Diamond Live Lounge - Doncaster - July 25, 2017

The Venue:

Diamond Live Lounge in Doncaster was definitely the most controversial place of this tour. Sound and light were excellent here, which is surprising, considering that this concert almost didn't happen. (Not at fault of the band though).

We are all happy that it DID happen, though, because yet again, Puddle of Mudd ROCKED! That's 5 out of 5 great concerts - I challenge their US 'management' to be able to do the same!

The full concert can be watched here:

It was an amazing experience to be able to see 5 concerts in a row of the greatest band ever, but what happened after the Doncaster concert struck me with more surrealism than Salvador Dalí's art, beard and pet combined.

Because by chance we ended up in the same Hotel as Puddle of Mudd (which is already pretty damn cool), but we also learned from the friendly Hotel guard that the Beatles stayed at the very same hotel back in 1963!

Concluding I would like to say that advertisement for the shows could have been a lot better, because even in the cities that were visited by this Tour, a lot of people didn't even know that Puddle of Mudd was playing that day.

Communication from the British promoters and generally everyone who was working at the Festival and UK Rocks Tour shows was excellent, but communication from Puddle of Mudd's management was total shite.

And here are some more images that might make you realize that Wes isn't the crazy guy that you think he is. He's actually one of the sweetest and kindest people you can find in this world - and in this universe -  you just have to show the same kindness to him.
